This series of programmes will take us to classic
stations, depots and other railway locations around
Britain, where the locomotives, liveries and rolling
stock are from an era that is now long gone.
Loco-hauled passenger and freight trains are in
abundance, but we will see shunters and multiple units as
well.
Volume 3 in the series of programmes
takes us to three famous railway locations.
Chapter 1: Stockport station 1986-1991
Although the
main route from Crewe to Manchester was electrified as
long ago as 1960, Stockport has witnessed a great variety
of traction over the years.
Hauled passenger trains
are in the hands of Class 31s, 47s and even a Class 45,
plus the AC electric fleet, while the freight turns
produce 25s, 37s & 47s - oh and an 08 shunter!
On the unit front, there is an appearance by a
Royal Mail liveried Derby dmu set and the good old Class
304 emus are still in service.
Chapter 2:
Comprises a visit to Eastfiled diesel depot and
Springburn Works in 1991, featuring Class 08, 20, 26, 27,
37, 47 & 90 locomotives.
Chapter 3:
To Reading in the years 1987 & 1988, when Network
South East ruled the roost on the local and outlying
commuter services.
Cross country services were
mostly, but not always, in the hands of 47s, and the
freights produce 33s, 37s, 56s, 59s, and even 47901.
Full captions with minimal commentary.
Approx running time 64 mins
