Chapter 1 NORTH-WEST ENGLAND
Where else but Peak Forest as 37688 leads 37381 past the site of the closed station on 28 February 1993 with 7F50 1505 Tunstead-Oakleigh Sidings
Birkett Tunnel, Kirkby Stephen is the location as 37415 & 37405 blast southwards with the SRPS 0520 Edinburgh-Keighley tour on 20 October 2001.
Chapter 2 WALES & THE BORDERS
On 24 May 2003 the class 37 hauled turn to Fishguard Harbour was diverted via the Vale of Glamorgan line. Here 37422 is seen with the return working passing the site of the closed Aberthaw station.
1Z36 1210 Aberystwyth-Birmingham New Street is seen breasting Talerddig summit east of Machynlleth on 5 August 2002 behind 37421..
Chapter 3 MIDDLE ENGLAND
Following the failure of 47844 on the Sunday only 1518 York-Birmingham service on 14 March 1999, inter-city liveried ex-sleeper loco 37510 was called upon to assist the train to Birmingham. Here she passes Wilnecote at speed.
The 6A74 1820Calvert-Northolt RTS binliner is seen pulling away from Aylesbury on 24 April 1999 with 37676+37238 at the helm.
Chapter 4 THAMES TO TYNE
Hertfordshires’ spin & win tour from Kings Cross to Spalding via Newark & Lincoln on 13 July 2002 saw the use of 37248. Here the type 3 passes Pinchbeck Flax Mill level crossing on the approach to Spalding.
Now sadly missed is the daily Doncaster-Ely freight service which often used to produce a class 37. Here 37109 passes Retford on 8 February 2000 with the 6E77 return.
Chapter 5 CORNWALL TO KENT
Soon after passing Exeter St Thomas 37696 heads down the West of England main line on 9 April 1999 with another freight duty of the past, the 6C21 1451 Newport ADJ-St Blazey.
8 June 2002 and Pathfinder's Post Festive Freighter tour to Portbury Dock is seen returning north at Yate with 37798 piloting 37670.
Chapter 6 OVERSEAS DUTIES
More memorable scenes from France as 37071 and 37074 tackle the 1 in 30 gradient at Donzere.
Our first view of 37s in Spain and L29 (37801) pulls away from Chaorne with a loaded ballast train.
Chapter 7 EIGHTIES ARCHIVE
The glorious years and 37065 backs down onto 1E34 08.15 Manchester-Yarmouth at Manchester Piccadilly. The date is 23 July 1983.
Glasgow Queen Street in February 1984 and 37037 arrives from Oban complete with Eastfield embellishments of white waistband & highland terrier.
Chapter 8 NORTH OF THE BORDER
Inter-City liveried 37406 waits for the road at Crianlarich on 28 August 1993 with 1Y13 1420 Glasgow-Fort William
